What is Chiffon:

It’s a sheer fabric that is very lightweight and is made of rayon, silk or other synthetics like nylon. Chiffon is Known for its soft luster and elegant draping and it’s often used for evening events.

We have different types of chiffon: silk, crepe, and poly. The silk chiffon is the most delicate one, and you should never use the washing machine to wash them. It’s recommended to send your chiffon to dry cleaner you trust as it requires extreme care.

How to clean chiffon dresses:

To remove odor, you can soak the dress in the cool water mixed with ¼ of vinegar for 30 min. Rinse off the dress and wash it with a mild soap liquid again with cool water. Rinse it off again, but don’t wring, press the water out of the dress gently. It may sound crazy, but some people wash their chiffon with a mild shampoo.

To remove stain from your chiffon, first, prewash your dress and then add a bit of baking soda and with a soft toothbrush gently work it into the stain, be as gentle as possible.

Lay the dress flat in its natural shape on a drying rack or you can even hang it to dry. Never put the chiffon dress in the dryer.

If the dress wrinkles, you can use steaming, that’s the safest way to remove the wrinkles.

Finally, when you sit, make sure you have pulled your dress up and sit in a very well manner otherwise you might pull the fabric that results in tearing it. You don’t have to pull aggressively, as long as it reduces the impact, it should be enough.

If you decide to iron your chiffon dress, use the lowest temperature otherwise you can damage the material. Always read the dress label and follow the instruction.
