Getting yourself ready for an outing can very tasking, especially when you are going for an interview. We do not have an outfit that fits every type of interview, which is why you need to select the type that best suits the company or work type. Interviews are the first way we can give the best lasting impression about ourselves to an employer or a company. Generally, dressing very well to an event gives you the confidence you need to help you through the day, the same goes for dressing well to an interview. With a good comfortable interview outfit, you have the confidence you need to help you through the questioning and drilling.

What to wear, and when

You might have heard this popular saying, “Dress for the job you want,” but this shouldn’t be the only drive. You should also ensure that you dress to suit the company. A suit has seemed to be the normal standard, but this is not the case anymore.

We can’t stop loving this Fit & Flare v-neck white cat black dress and sleeveless.

Although we have some industries that are still doing things the old way, some other companies have seemed to relax a bit about their dressing. While co-operating companies like law firms and financial institutions expect you to come to interviews suited up, the likes of tech companies do not necessarily request for that. The best thing to do before going in for an interview is to do your research before time to know the right dressing code for the intended role you are putting in for. Other things to take note of when going for an interview include;

  • Pay attention to details. Keep their hair brushed and ensure the dress, skirt, pant trousers or whatever outfit you have on is well ironed.
  • Dress a bit better than the usual dressing of the workers. This is what we recommend: Fit & Flare Blue Gingham Shirt Dress with Button & Short Sleeves
  • Keep it simple, avoid using too much jewelry and showing off too much skin. It is an interview, not a fashion show.
  • Do not be tempted to use cologne. Do not choke your interviewers with the smell.
  • And the last but most important one, rehearse your dressing. This will help you know what will fit, and what will not.

Some might still be confused about the type of dress to wear for an interview, what the company deals in might give you a hint about their dressing code.

  • Business environment: in a business environment, you might put on pant trousers or skirts with heels.
  • Casual: in tech or entertainment settings, they often go for casual dressing. That does not mean you should dress up wearing jeans and flip-flops to an interview. You can opt for a shirt with a collar with either pants trousers or a skirt.
  • Business casual: apart from the standard cooperate dressing for a business setting, if the intended office operates a casual business dressing code, you can wear a dress or a blouse with work pant trousers or a skirt.
